WE DO HISTORY, TOO.

Victorian Housekeeper

Our history work has two strands:

  1. Workshops and plays that can visit schools

  2. And history interpretation for heritage sites - our heritage interpretation service has provided servants and aristocrats for stately homes, WW2 and Roman soldiers for museums, and even recreated political street riots! See below for details.

INTERACTIVE CHRONOLOGY PLAYS FOR KS1 & KS2 PUPILS

THE 2000 YEAR TOUR (KS1 or KS2 versions available)

500 Year Tour

Your pupils can join us as Time Travellers, setting off on a mystery tour of the last 2,000 years and beyond, back into Ancient History.  They'll explore key periods in history and put events into context, helping them to gain an understanding of chronology and how events of the past affect the present.  KS1 & KS2 presentations are both tailored to those age groups giving your pupils an exciting experience of the past.

HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS

The Romans

Roman Workshop

Our costumed characters Marcus Cornelius Naso and his wife Claudia will whisk you back in time to the heyday of the Roman occupation of Britain. They’ll give a brief history of the period, and set the scene for an hour of exploration and discovery through hands-on activities.

The activities are set around a room on separate tables, and pupils divide into small groups and move around each table. The session ends with a quick, physically active quiz to reinforce the information pupils have picked up.

These workshops can be adapted to suit different requirements, and can be repeated up to four times in a day.

ALSO AVAILABLE Victorian Servants

Let our Victorian characters whisk your pupils back in time to experience life below stairs in a wealthy household.
Costumed characters will give a brief introduction to the Victorian period, and to the upstairs and downstairs life in a large household. We will bring props and materials to set the scene, and have hands-on activities for all pupils to get involved in.
The sessions can be tailored to suit different age groups, and can be adapted if a class is working on a specific project within the period. Workshops will last around 1 hour, and can be repeated up to four times in a day.

TIMEZONES HERITAGE INTERPRETATION COMMISSIONS

Victorian Servants

  • In lean times people really value their leisure activities, and we can help you make the most of your resources.
  • We have an excellent track record of creating projects that enhance visitor’s experiences, and encourage new audiences at a wide variety of museums, castles and stately homes across the UK.
  • We specialize in tailoring activities to suit the needs of individual venues, and can work with all ages, but generally focus on families with primary age children. We aim to entertain and amuse whilst maintaining a strongly educational bias.
  • We can provide interpretive characters to bring to life any period of history, or we can work with existing staff and volunteers to develop their skills in this area. We can interpret specific themes or exhibitions with interactive performances, or with hands-on workshops. We can also develop educational tours for schoolchildren, and teaching packs based on your collections.
  • We are easy to work with, extremely flexible, and aim to offer a good value service.
Past clients include the Natural History Museum, Warwick Castle, CADW, and various sites run by Newport & Monmouthshire Councils.
Also much smaller venues such as Bath Postal Museum and Yate Heritage Centre.
We are always happy to meet with potential clients to discuss what we could offer you,
and to put forward a package of proposals and their costs.

‘Timezones entice visitors of all ages to use their senses and imagination to feel and experience the past. Through doing so the visitor is guaranteed a truly memorable encounter with the past.’
